How this is funded: we earn an Amazon commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. We sell nothing and stock nothing, so a pick is never a product we are trying to move. Prices are pulled live from Amazon and were last checked October 5, 2026; where we cannot verify a price we say so rather than print an old one. Full disclosure.

The verdict
Griot's Garage, mostly because of the warranty. A lifetime satisfaction guarantee on a polisher changes the arithmetic on the single most expensive purchase in detailing, and their machines are the best value in the category. Adam's wins on detail sprays and on interior kits.
02
Two premium brands with genuine support
Both of these sit above the mass-market brands on price and above them on support. Both will talk to you about a product and both stand behind what they sell, which is less common than it should be.

Griot's Garage G9 Random Orbital Polisher
Best for: The default answer for a first serious machine
A 9mm throw and a 1000W motor put the G9 exactly where most home detailers should be: fast enough to finish a car in an afternoon, short enough in the throw to stay predictable near badges and body lines. It is the machine we would buy if we were buying one machine.
Who should skip it. If you already own a competent 8mm machine, this is not the upgrade you think it is — the extra millimeter of throw will not fix inconsistent results. Put the money into better pads and a second liquid instead. It is also heavier than the G8, and you notice that on vertical panels after an hour.

What works
9mm throw is the best general-purpose compromise on the market
1000W does not bog down under pressure on a cutting pad
Griot's lifetime warranty is the strongest in the category
Takes the same 5 in plate and 5.5 in pads as everything else
What does not
Heavier than the G8, which shows on doors and quarters
12mm sits deliberately between the two established throws, and in practice it behaves much closer to a 15mm machine than a 9mm one — faster across a panel, and wanting more attention near an edge. A reasonable pick if you have used a short-throw machine and want more speed.
Who should skip it. A first machine. The in-between throw means it is neither the most forgiving nor the fastest, which is a fine place to be on your second polisher and a confusing one on your first.

What works
12mm throw is a genuine step up in speed from 8 to 9mm
Better balanced than most machines near this price
Adam's support and parts availability are good
What does not
The in-between throw suits a second machine, not a first
Adam's does not publish a wattage figure we could verify
Adam's Detail Spray is the reference quick detailer: slick enough to use as a clay lubricant, gentle enough to lift dust without marring, and it works as a drying aid. If you own one bottle of anything in this category, this is a sensible one.
Who should skip it. Washing a dirty car. No detail spray is a waterless wash on genuine dirt, and using one that way is a reliable way to put swirls into clean paint.

What works
Excellent lubricity — doubles as a clay lubricant
Works as a drying aid, which is its best use
Safe over every protection type
What does not
Not protection in any meaningful sense
Expensive per ounce next to the mass-market detailers
Speed Shine does everything Adam's Detail Spray does at roughly a third of the price, and the gap in performance is much smaller than the gap in cost. Buy the gallon refill and keep a spray bottle in the car.
Who should skip it. Maximum slickness. It is slightly less lubricated than the premium detailers, which matters only if you are using it as a clay lubricant.

Griot's lifetime satisfaction guarantee covers their machines indefinitely, and it is honored. On a polisher — a tool with bearings, brushes and a backing plate that all wear — that transforms the purchase. A machine you can replace indefinitely is a machine you buy once.
That is specifically why the G8 and G9 sit where they do in our polisher roundup. The machines are good; the warranty is what makes them the default recommendation.
05
On price
Both are premium and Griot's is the better value on consumables, because several of their products are sold as super-concentrates. Speed Shine at a third of the price of Adam's Detail Spray does most of the same job, and their car wash concentrate is the cheapest per wash on this site.
Adam's rarely discounts and the premium is real. What it buys is the curation and the support, which is a defensible trade for someone who wants fewer decisions.
06
Buying across both
Machine and pads from Griot's, for the warranty and the matched throw.
Detail spray from Adam's, or Griot's Speed Shine if the price difference matters more than the last 10% of slickness.
Concentrates from Griot's, where the value is genuinely strong.
Interior from Adam's, where the kits are the most complete.
Yes, particularly their detail spray, which is the reference product in its category, and their interior kits, which are the most genuinely complete we found. The prices are premium and rarely discounted, and the support is a real part of what you are paying for.
Is Griot's Garage better than Adam's?
On machines, clearly — the lifetime satisfaction guarantee transforms the economics of buying a polisher, and the G8 and G9 are the best value in the category. Adam's wins on detail sprays, interior kits and graphene coatings.
Is the Griot's lifetime warranty real?
It is their published satisfaction guarantee and it is honored in practice. On a tool with bearings, brushes and a wearing backing plate, that is the single most valuable feature of the machine — it makes it a purchase you make once.
Which brand is better value?
Griot's on consumables, because several products are sold as super-concentrates — their car wash works out to the lowest cost per wash on this site. Adam's rarely discounts, and the premium buys curation and support rather than performance.
